“We speak of the individual and the Universe. But within the individual there is a universe as well” from The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider & Joost Elffers

When I asked Maguire how he’d like to be photographed he immediately thought ‘In my room, with my map!’, and so that is just what we did!  Maguire is a smart, interested, sensitive, and engaged kid who has loved all-things-dinosaur since he was little, in fact his first ‘hero’ was and is the famous palentologist, Dr. Jack Horner.  We thought it would be great to incorporate his interest in paleontology by using one of Dr. Horner’s books in our shot, a quiet nod to someone Maguire so greatly admires and to the profession he hopes to join! :)

What a privilege it is for me to be able to share this project with some of my loved ones; these first few shoots have been really special for me…that said I’ll be shooting people unknown to me too, starting this week, and I’m stoked about the cool people I will meet!  Life is beautiful! – Lori Maloney
