“Even a rabbit can twist an ankle” from The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider & Joost Elffers

Lone Mullins by ©Jeannette Breward

Lone picked the location for her birthday book portrait while on a drive out in the countryside with her family. They sent me some pictures of this beautiful field, and I couldn’t agree more that it would be the perfect spot! With Lone’s awesome blue dipped hair, the bright yellow of the field made for a fantastic backdrop. We took a drive out to this location, stopping to grab some orange flowers from the side of the road to complete the look. A few earwig and ant mishaps later, we made it to the location with our flower bouquet all ready to go! – Jeannette B

An Interview with Lone

Q. What is your best memory/moment from one of your past birthdays?

A. Doing the photo shoot (for her birthday) No, not really. I was sort of mad. I don’t know. It’s so hard.

Q. How about the worst? And why?

A. Photos. Well I shouldn’t say that. Should I? I didn’t like posing. It made me mad and stressed out. Oh!! When the disco ball broke at one of my parties. That was the worst.

Q. What was the present you’ve received for your birthday that most surprised you?

A. iPod!

Q. Is there one food or dish that you insist on eating during your birthday celebration?

A. Haha. Well…a cake or cupcakes.

Q. What do you believe is the most important aspect of celebrating a birthday?

A. About being with the ones who you love.

Q. Do you/your family/culture have any traditions/rituals/ceremonies that are performed to celebrate birthdays? What is it?

A. No.
