“At this moment, someone is flying” from The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider & Joost Elffers
“Katie is my youngest sibling, and I don’t have the right words to explain how much I love her. Sometimes watching her play or watching her nose crinkle into a giggle is so overwhelmingly beautiful to me that I need to pause and catch my breath. I have thousands of photos of her; I have watched her grow up through my lens. This was taken on an evening when she had dressed herself and dragged me out to watch her on the swings. She was in the middle of singing me a song about a little red wagon. I felt as if this image summed up some of my favourite things about her; from her impeccable sense of style and self to the free spirit and childlike joy that I love so much. ” – Emily D
