When Kate and I discussed where she would like to do her shoot for this project, she knew right away that she wanted to take me to the trail that she goes running on. It’s a beautiful gem along the waterfront trail in our town of Port Hope. I had never been as far down as we went for this session, and the amazing lookout over a large pond was seriously gorgeous! It became no wonder to me why Kate likes to go for her daily runs along this path. The hike down to the lookout was full of amazing scenery and wildlife. A beautiful place to enjoy a daily dose of exercise! – Jeannette B

An Interview with Kate

Q. What is your best memory/moment from one of your past birthdays?

A. This past birthday, holding my baby daughter in my arms and realizing this was the best birthday ever because I have her now.

Q. How about the worst? And why?

A. I think my parents forgot about my birthday one year. That sucked.

Q. What was the present you’ve received for your birthday that most surprised you?

A. A pony! Just kidding. That never happened but I did get an iPod when they first came out. That was really cool.

Q. Is there one food or dish that you insist on eating during your birthday celebration?

A. Yes. Quesadillas, ribs and/or perigees. One year my partner and I made all 3 from scratch.

Q. What do you believe is the most important aspect of celebrating a birthday?

A. Doing whatever you want to. It’s the one day a year it’s acceptable to be kind of selfish.

Q. Do you/your family/culture have any traditions/rituals/ceremonies that are performed to celebrate birthdays? What is it?

A. My mom and I have a birthday tiara we wear. I’ve worn it to the grocery store, movies, beach… we are kinda into birthdays.
