An Interview with Ivy

Q. What is the best memory you have from a previous birthday?

A. Getting the guitar from my parents that I REALLY wanted for my 16th Birthday. I cried.

Q. How about the worst? And why?

A. My 14th birthday…I just got out of the hospital after having surgery, and I was housebound, drinking meals out of a straw.

Q. What was the present you’ve received for your birthday that surprised you most?

A. See first question! It was a guitar that looked just like John Lennon’s. I was (and still am) a massive Beatles fan

Q. Is there a food or dish that you insist on eating on your birthday?

A. In recent years, Sushi. My husband doesn’t like it so it’s the one day of the year when he can’t put up a fight on what restaurant to go to!

Q. What do you believe is the most important aspect of celebrating a birthday?

A. To not take life for granted…you are still here, aging and growing spiritually/mentally. A lot of people haven’t had that luxury. RIP to my dear friends and family who’s lives ended at an early age.

Q. Do you have any traditions or thing you always do to celebrate a birthday? What is it?

A. I always think of Freddie Mercury..as he has the same birthday as me. He’s a legend in my eyes!
