“The beauty in a song resides not only in the melody but in the meaning of the words as well” from The Secret Language of Birthdays by Gary Goldschneider & Joost Elffers

“Eléonore is a brilliant girl. Despite her young age, she has an opinion about everything and always has solid arguments to back what she thinks. Her generous heart is only equaled by her colorful mind and it’s always a great pleasure to listen to what she has to say. Charming, kind, funny, absolutely stunning… If this is the world of tomorrow, we’re in good hands, people. Happy birthday, “Onore”!” – Mélissa P

An Interview with Eléonore

Q. What is the best memory you have from a previous birthday?

A. My best memory is when my Mamie surprised me with a giant balloon bouquet at the restaurant. I was 4 years old. I wasn’t expecting it at all! She had come a long way just to surprise me. My Mamie is really wonderful… We have a very special relationship, her and I.

Q. How about the worst? And why?

A. When I turned 8, I celebrated my birthday at home with a group of friends. I was really excited that they all came for a day between us girls. But when it was time for cake, one of my friends preferred to watch TV instead of joining us to sing “Happy Birthday”. It hurt my feelings… I really thought we were good friends.

Q. What was the present you’ve received for your birthday that surprised you most?

A. I have always been quite spoiled for my birthday. I get a lot of big, beautiful gifts… everything I ever wish for! For many years, I had been hoping for a little sister or brother… The most beautiful gift, the one I think was the most memorable, was when my little brother, Renaud, was born around the time I turned 5. He was born three weeks before my 5th birthday and I was very happy and proud to introduce him to everyone!

Q. Is there a food or dish that you insist on eating on your birthday?

A. Poutine! Miam, poutine! I would eat it 3 times a day!!! Whenever there is poutine for my birthday, it is a success for sure! Even more so if we are going to eat it at “La Banquise”… even if it’s for breakfast!

Q. What do you believe is the most important aspect of celebrating a birthday?

A. It is a very special day: the day we came into the world! We become the center of attention and it’s a really fun experience! The ones I love take the time to call me or visit me… only because they love me! And even if it’s not what matters most, I receive presents, which is nice! It is normal, I think, to enjoy receiving gifts… My birthday is always a beautiful day!

Q. Do you have any traditions or thing you always do to celebrate a birthday? What is it?

A. We don’t have big traditions yet. Only a small one… that I appreciate very much. When the celebration with friends and family is over, we always have cupcakes with candles at home and my parents and my brother sing “Happy Birthday” to me again, only between us, our little family! It makes me really happy because they are the people I love the most and we are very happy together!
